The Luminescent Life and Safety Line (LVSL)
With the abandonment of chemical weeding in favor of manual clearing, it has become essential for all railway actors, such as SNCF Réseau, to further reinforce the safety of personnel working along the tracks.
In response to this need, SAFE INNOV, My Angel PTI-DATI ‘s sister company and expert in the protection of isolated workers (PTI), innovates and designs a virtual barrier to be temporarily installed at the edge of the tracks: the LVSL, a patented and
made in France.
How does it work?
This cable, a real luminous lifeline, alerts the wearer if he is too close to the cable, and therefore too close to the danger zone. A proximity sensor, worn on the ankle or via a shoe clip by the intervening personnel, allows the information to be transmitted to them via a bell and a vibration.
The installation of an LVSL is fast (15 minutes to secure 100 meters), simple (no calibration is necessary) and does not require any particular logistics.
What are the advantages of using a radio communication solution in addition?
The sensor’s sound signal can be transmitted directly via the VOKKERO GUARDIAN communication system, which is very useful on noisy, extensive and hazardous construction sites.
Thanks to this communicating anti-noise headset, wearers benefit from a patented noise filter within the VOKKERO technology that attenuates all surrounding noise. GUARDIAN radios allow to communicate in teams very naturally over a distance of more than 1200 meters and with a lot of comfort (the communication is full duplex, permanent, unlike walkie-talkies no manipulation is necessary to speak). The system can be coupled with various hearing protectors and headsets.
For which uses?
The LVSL is an equipment approved and deployed by the SNCF and thus perfectly adapted to railway interventions but it is also very useful to prevent the risks of accidents of professionals of many sectors of activity, intervening near zones at risk: hopper, trench, dangerous machine and building site machine, approach of roadway, electric risk, forestry exploitation…
